  1. MAIN OUTCOME of SciDAC PI MEETING:

Interactions are going to be key to SciDAC-II. Lots of interest in collaboration with PERI.

Provide a rank ordering of potential collaborations.

What is an institute? An Institute should have greater outreach beyond SciDAC.

  1. HOW TO MOVE FORWARD ON STARTING THE TECHNICAL WORK OF INTERACTIONS:

Describe plans for March meeting and discuss progress.

  • TIGER TEAMS AND APPLICATION ENGAGEMENT

Progress on Tiger Teams discussed.

Baseline summary document for Joule report will be done soon. Joule report describes a set of apps that showcase progress in Office of Science. Focus is preparing codes for the 250TFlop Cray system.

  • PLANS FOR MARCH MEETING

A review of the engagements we are planning and what has been done so far. Pin down lingering issues and report on initial work. Get an update on research.

Most PI's attending (Kathy couldn't make it).

Agenda:

  1. SciDAC project meeting in Atlanta, Feb. 5-6. Bronis, Pat, DHB and Bob will represent PERI
  2. "Joule" codes announced
    • S3D
    • Chimera
    • GTC

Discussion:

  • next PERI all-hands meeting? DHB will start arranging it
  • research progress? topic for next phone call (need Kathy to talk about portal)
  • official INCITE announcement will be on Monday

Notes from 11/29/06

  • Bronis S. was unable to attend due to a conflict
  • User survey: everyone should read and respond to Pat's preliminary engagement recommendations (see email list 11/29/06 8AM).
  • What was learned at SC:
    • Agreed that a common repository for benchmarks would be generally useful
    • Shirley said that she would take the lead in contacting groups outside of PERI
